TCR Europe Cup concludes with Santiago Concepción confirmed as champion

The TCR Europe Touring Car Cup will conclude as a single-event series in 2026, with the upcoming weekend in Barcelona cancelled, and with the round at Spa-Francorchamps serving as the single event of the category, which means Santiago Concepción is confirmed as the series inaugural, and sole champion.

The TCR Europe Cup was created as a separate category to the TCR Europe Touring Car Series, with the latter enjoying continued success with a highly-competitive season already well underway, and with a record grid expected for the upcoming race weekend at Monza in Italy.

The separate TCR Europe Cup featured 17 drivers at the event at Spa-Francorchamps in April, taking part across ten cars with many of the drivers sharing the car over both races.

While the concept of the series was about promoting young talent and to encourage new teams to try their hands at top level touring car competition, and to build the skills necessary to make the move up to series such as the TCR Europe series and other competitive TCR categories, the event mainly served as a preparation and shakedown event for the TCR Europe series' own race at Spa-Francorchamps.

With this in mind, and with the current anticipated entry, in order to give teams as much notice as possible, and to help the teams and the organisation reallocate resources and preparation for work on the exciting final pair of races for the TCR Europe series at Monza and at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain, the TCR Europe Cup promoter has today confirmed the second event planned for Barcelona on September 18-20 has been cancelled.

"It's with great regret that we've make this decision, but ultimately with the level of interest, as well as the different objectives the TCR Europe Cup was achieving compared to our original goals, we've decided it's in the best interest of all parties to cancel the second and final event of the Cup," said TCR Europe promoter Rubén Fernández.

"It was important to try something new, but it's just as important to realise when things aren't working and to put the focus where it belongs. We will instead host a dedicated test day in September for the TCR Europe teams, and put all our effort in delivering an exciting final pair of races of the TCR Europe series, which is enjoying another incredible year, and one that could even top our fantastic 2025 season," he added.

With Santiago Concepción and Junui Park sharing the victories in the season opener at Spa, and with the tiebreak under the sporting regulations favouring the driver who set the best lap time in qualifying, Concepción is confirmed as both the overall and Amateur (RTI Trophy) champion of the 2026 TCR Europe Touring Car Cup.
