Roberto Colciago wins as Alberto Viberti retires

Roberto Colciago has stretched his leadership in the Italian Touring Car Championship (CIT) by claiming his third victory out of the three races held so far.
The event is also valid as the second round of the TCR Trophy Europe.
The AGS Motorsport driver started from the back of the grid following an engine failure that had sidelined him during both yesterday’s Qualifying sessions; Alberto Viberti whose car suffered from a broken drive shaft in the first Qualifying session filled the last-but-one spot on the grid.
At the start Samuele Piccin pipped Imerio Brigliadori who sat on pole position and took the lead, but Viberti and Colciago were able to recover quickly and on the third lap they overtook Piccin moving up to first and second.
For the following three laps Viberti was able to close all the gaps and kept Colciago at bay, but suddenly on lap 7 the leader slows down and pitted, again with a broken drive shaft.
The second part of the race turned into a parade for Colciago’s Honda Civic that won with a comfortable margin from the SEAT cars of Brigliadori and Piccin.
The second race will start tomorrow morning at 9:50, with Viberti on pole position and Colciago at the back of the grid once again. The race will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.tv.
