Norbert Michelisz (fastest): “The team did an amazing job. Yesterday, I was struggling a bit but today the car was just working fine. With the balance I had today, I was confident to push and we gave it our maximum and fortunately even with a very tight margin it was enough. I’m very happy for myself and for the team. If you start from the front, the aim is always to win, but yesterday I was not 100% confident on the long run but we will see. First of all, we need to make a good start; we need to look after each other going through the first couple of corners and then to be honest we need to push because you can see the tight margins and the slight straight-line disadvantage we have, so it’s not going to be easy. Let’s wait and see.”
Tom Coronel (fastest TCR Europe): “The game has begun! We went all in, maximum, and everything felt right. I saw in the first sector that we were very strong because every time we were purple so that was good. I had some small understeer problems in the last sector but other than that the car felt really good. I’d like to fight with the World Tour guys because that’s where I come from, but my focus is TCR Europe because last year I was second and I don’t want to have that again. You know my type of races – I never take a lot of risks, so normally my boss will ask me ‘there’s no scratches on your car, did you have a race today?’ so it’s always building a little pressure with me. When you’re 51, you think a little differently; you know that the prizes are given after the finish flag and not after the first lap. But you know me; I’m still aggressive enough not to give presents – you get presents at Christmas and on your birthday and not on the racetrack!”
