The new Tenerife Trophy, which was added mid-season at the race weekend in France, has added a new category for challengers who are not already champions, race winners, or competitors in the Youth Best category in the TCR Europe series.

With two of four weekends in the new category in the books, a close battle is already forming at the top of the standings.

The first winner of a Tenerife Trophy race was Victor Weyrich, with the French driver impressing at his home race to pick up the class win in Race 1 at Paul Ricard, before Michael Markussen had a great run in Race 2 to pick up victory in the second race.

It was in Hungary however, that Victor Chan dominated the class, taking two class victories while also fighting for the overall podium in his RC2 Racing Team-run Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCR.

The Hong Kong driver therefore launched himself up to second in the Trophy’s points table, with just race weekends to go at Monza and Barcelona.

Quietly however, despite not winning overall in class, it’s AIKOA Racing’s Giacomo Prandelli who has a ten-point lead in the class, now heading to his home race, with a second, two third, and one fourth place finish in the classification over the last four races.

Also in the mix is Sandro Pelatti, who is third in the order after a steady run of results in the SP Compétition CUPRA Leon VZ TCR.

As with the Youth Best Trophy, the highest scoring driver from each race weekend wins an allocation of one set of Kumho ECSTA TCR race tyres for the following round. Also as part of the Trophy’s association with Tenerife, the 2026 champion will win a prize of a stay at the Spanish archipelago.
