At the upcoming race at Monza, the Honda Civic, built in nearby Arluno by JAS Motorsport, and Audi Sport customer racing’s RS 3 LMS, could take the top spot as the manufacturer and model with the most wins in the TCR Europe series.

The Japanese marque has an exceptional record, with 33 wins to date, winning at least one race every season, including 2017, when there were only two races in the TCR Europe Trophy event at Adria Raceway.

Sixteen of those wins have been with the second-generation Civic Type R FK7 TCR, while the current model FL5 has racked up 12 victories over the past four years.

The first-generation FK2 also scored five wins during the TCR Europe’s Trophy years of 2016 and 2017, primarily within the 2016 TCR Benelux and TCR Germany championships, and with Josh Files scoring a victory for the FK2 at Adria the following year in the single-weekend event before the current TCR Europe Touring Car Series was created in 2018.

While Honda has been a consistent winner, Audi Sport customer racing’s RS 3 has been a very regular winner in recent years. While not so much with the RS 3 gen I, which only scored seven wins between 2018 and 2021, the gen II model has been the most successful model in TCR Europe history, with 26 wins since it first arrived in 2022. Franco Girolami took the model all the way to the title in its first year, while Tom Coronel, Kobe Pauwels, and John Filippi gave it 11 wins from 14 races in a dominant 2023.

This means that current championship-leading Audi’s total win tally now stands at 33, meaning that if across its three teams PMA Motorsport, AIKOA Racing, and Vannin Motorsport it can score more wins than Honda, it can move clear ahead of the Honda Civic.

While Honda and Audi dominate the victory table, CUPRA is not far behind. The Spanish manufacturer has taken 31 victories during the 11 year history of the category, and so in theory could also draw level with both Honda and Audi should the CUPRA-equipped teams lock out both races during the weekend.

Hyundai is a little further behind in terms of wins, with 22 victories in total, mostly in the earlier years of TCR Europe with the successful i30 N TCR, though the Elantra N TCR has seven wins to its name since its 2021 debut.

A long way back are a few brands no longer active in the TCR Europe field. The Peugeot 308, which nearly won the title in 2019, took eight wins between 2018 and 2021, and even helped Aurélien Comte secure the 2017 title despite not taking a victory.

Opel racked up three wins with the Astra TCR in 2016, thanks to the efforts of inaugural champion Pierre-Yves Corthals, his co-driver Frédéric Caprasse, and the DG Sport Competition team in the TCR Benelux championship and TCR Portugal.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR also has three wins, which also all came from the first 2016 Trophy year, with Vincent Radermecker taking three wins with Milo Racing in the TCR Benelux category.
