The TCR Balance of Performance test is currently going on with the engine tests at ORAL Engineering (www.oralengineering.com).
Each engine is placed inside the ‘test cell’ and linked to the dynamometer that will measure the power and torque curves. The engine gets wired using the very same wiring that is installed in the racing car, and connected to the data logging ECUs.
Once everything has been set up the actual tests may be performed, in order to check the engine maps in six different power configurations: 102.5%, 100%, 97.5%, 95%, 92,5% and 90%.
The engine tests will go ahead for several days, while the final stage of the BoP process will be the track test for the new cars at Valencia on 18 February.
