Tiago Pernía has dropped from second to third in the final classification of TCR Europe Race 2, but still keeps his first podium finish in the series after a five-second penalty was applied.
The Argentinian was deemed to have completed his pass on early race leader Nicolas Taylor’s Audi at Bruxelles under double-waved yellow flags, which were out because of Gabriele Covini’s stricken Hyundai.
The penalty drops him behind Taylor on the podium, and also helps close Taylor up to new points leader Mike Halder in the standings, with the gap now just five points.
Junesung Park also picked up a ten second penalty for gaining an advantage following an off at Les Combes, and drops to ninth position.
Gabriele Covini also picked up a ten-second penalty for contact with Adam Shepherd, but as he finished 20th and last this makes no difference to his finishing position.
Race winner Ruben Volt was cleared of fault for a move at the start in which he came close to the front of Shepherd’s CUPRA into the La Source hairpin, which was deemed a racing incident.
