Touring Car veteran Tom Coronel has revealed a new livery for his Comtoyou Racing Audi RS 3 LMS ahead of the opening round of the 2023 TCR Europe series at Portimão in Portugal over the weekend of April 28th-30th. The familiar yellow DHL sponsorship of the last eight years has been replaced by the black and red colours of Tricorp Workwear, with Coronel also receiving support from Dutch company Eurol, another long-term partner.
The driver from the Netherlands finished second in the 2022 TCR Europe series and was instrumental in securing the Teams’ title for Comtoyou Racing, taking two wins and six podium finishes along the way. Another top-three finish in the standings is his goal for this season, along with scoring enough points in the TCR World Ranking to compete in the TCR World Final.
2023 will be Tom’s 34th season in motor racing and his Audi will carry the race number 34 throughout the year. As part of his preparations for the season, Coronel has already tested the car at Spa-Francorchamps, Monza and Barcelona.
Tom Coronel commented: “Great that I already got the confidence of Jean-Michel Baert and François Verbist, who let me test even before we came to an agreement again. That shows how driven they are. Of course, for my part I want to do everything again to reward them for their confidence with good results.
“DHL had indicated early on that the support would end due to a change in strategy. I am extremely grateful for the support I have received from DHL over the past years; it really was a great partnership. It takes some getting used to, being no longer in a yellow car, but I think the black and red, which stands for both Tricorp and Audi Sport, also has a very nice look.
“It would be nice if I can compete in the TCR World Final at the end of the season. That means I need to score enough points for the TCR World Ranking, so every result counts. But above all, I am happy to be back on the grid this year as well in my 34th year in racing. I’m looking forward to it.”
