The TCR Europe series resumes for rounds 9 and 10 in Belgium, as a juicy preamble to the Total 24-hour of Spa-Francorchamps.
The schedule has been adjusted to fit into the event's timetable, and so TCR Europe drivers will hit the track this afternoon for the first Free Practice, while in a busy Friday they will take part in the second Practice, the Qualifying and the first 8-lap race in the afternoon; Race 2 will take place on Saturday morning.
Mike Halder (Profi Car Team Halder. Honda Civic Type R) arrives to Spa as the new leader of the championship; thanks to a victory and a fourth place scored in the previous event at Barcelona, the German driver has built a 13-point advantange in the standings.
His closest competitors are Mehdi Bennani and Nicolas Baert, both at the wheel of Audi RS 3 LMS cars run by Comtoyou Racing. The Belgian team has great expectations for racing on their home ground and Baert, who is currently third in the table, 21 points behind Halder, hopes to repeat the performance of Zolder where he scored his maiden Touring Car victory.
Daniel Lloyd (Brutal Fish Racing Team, Honda Civic Type R), fourth in the standings, two points behind Baert, is eager to make up from the disappointing event he had in Spain that cost him the leadership.
Other drivers to watch are the BRC Racing duo of Dániel Nagy and Mat'o Homola in the best-placed of the Hyundai i30 N cars, Lloyd's teammate Pepe Oriola, John Filippi and Andreas Bäckman in two of Target Competiition's Hyundai cars and Julien Briché (JSB Compétition, Peugeot 308) who has been victorious twice at Spa, in 2018 and 2019.
Both races will be live at www.tcr-series.com, Friday at 16:50 and Saturday at 11:50 local times (CEST).
