The sole Lynk & Co driver in the TCR Europe field, Viktor Andersson, leaves Portimão fifth in the points standings after a pair of top ten finishes, and also second in the young drivers’ category for those aged 21 and under.
The MA:GP driver had a strong run in the first race, finishing seventh after qualifying eighth, while he recovered from a bad start from third on the grid in Race 2 to finish in sixth position - whilst involved in a number of high-excitement scrapes at the Algarve circuit.
“I really like this circuit,” said Andersson. “In Race 1 I had a great start from P8 and I was almost tied in third into Turn 4, while in the second race it was the opposite; I was like seventh or eighth after the first half of the lap, so I need to look at what happened with my start there and see what we can improve.
“The field this year is really competitive, no one is leaving any room - as we can see my car is quite scratched, but I think the fights were fair. We’re fifth in the total standings, which is quite a good start, and now we go to Spa, which is a circuit I’ve been to before - it’s not the best circuit for us in the straight line where we’re still lacking a bit of speed, but it’s a good start to the year.”
