Viktor Andersson held off the charge from a closing Audi from the TCR Eastern Europe series to hold on to fourth on the road, and third in the TCR Europe classification therefore scoring his third podium finish in the series, and closes in on the battle for fourth place in the overall drivers’ standings.
Andersson’s Lynk & Co lost one spot at the start to the experienced Slovakian racer Mat’o Homola, with the TCR Eastern Europe champion having much greater knowledge of the Brno circuit, but was able to fight a late charge from the Aditis Racing Audi RS 3 of Kadlečík to hold position, despite being one of many to suffer a severe loss of grip later in the race.
“It was quite a good race,” said Andersson. “Obviously the car wasn’t good enough to fight the two CUPRAs ahead, and in the second half of the race, the front tyres just weren’t there anymore. I don’t think I’ve driven a race ever where the drop off has been so big, but I’m really happy with my third podium in TCR Europe.”
