Viktor Andersson joins Monlau Motorsport for 2026

Viktor Andersson will return for his fourth year in the TCR Europe Touring Car Series, though with a new team and car after making the switch to champions Monlau Motorsport for his 2026 campaign in a CUPRA Leon VZ TCR.

The 22-year-old from Linköping, Sweden, will join Monlau Motorsport, which will also expand to run three cars this year, with the team's other two drivers to be announced at a later date.

Andersson has been a frontrunner in TCR Europe since his debut in 2023, claiming pole position in only his second race weekend at Spa-Francorchamps that year, and has claimed five podium finishes.

The Swedish racer has raced exclusively with the family-run team MA:GP in his first three years in the series, run by his father, experienced Swedish touring car racer Mattias. Now, for 2026 Viktor moves to the Barcelona-based Monlau team, which has won the drivers' title for the last two years with Franco Girolami and Jenson Brickley, and is also the current teams' champions.

“If you’re joining a team that’s been the champions for the last two years, you can’t just go in and just be aiming for the top ten," said Andersson.

"The team’s really good, the car’s really good, we believe in this programme and we’re aiming high. It’s a big change, it’s not just going from one team to another team, we’ve been racing in our own little family team for three years, now to do something like this, it’s a step up, and it could be a surprise to some.

“Last year the series was super-competitive, and we already know we'll have a strong driver line-up in the team. I have the team and the car to be able to perform, but we know it’s going to be a tough season, but of the six circuits, I’ve already been to five, so I’m not new in TCR anymore. I have a lot of experience I’m bringing with me, but we know the level of the competition will be super-high.

“I trust the team, we’ve done a few tests already. The CUPRA is different to what I’m used to driving, I feel some things are better, and other things just a little different . From the tests we’ve done, I’ve already started to get comfortable, and I’m really looking forward to starting the championship at Mugello in a few months.”

For 2026, Andersson will also be a CUPRA Sweden supported driver, representing the young automotive marque in his home country as one of the leading touring car drivers from the region.
