Viktor Andersson, currently second in the young drivers’ standings, will start today’s second race at Spa-Francorchamps from pole position, courtesy of the top ten reversed grid, and hopes to make the most of the strong performance of his MA:GP Lynk & Co in the race.
Andersson made it into the Q2 in a close session and with tenth picked up the critical pole position for Race 2, and is in a good position to battle for points in Race 1 as well.
“We have a good opportunity,” said Andersson. “If you’re in the top ten here, you have a good opportunity. I think I did one of my best laps in qualifying, there was not much more left in the car. If you look in sector two, where all the corners are, we’re really strong - we just need to find some straightline speed.
“We’re excited for pole in Race 2 tomorrow, and the tyre degradation should be good on our car, so we should be stronger at the end of the race at least. We know we’ll be looking in the mirrors a bit on the straights, but we can only focus on our car.”
