Viktor Andersson’s consistent season has helped lift the CUPRA Sweden-backed driver to the top of the Youth Best Trophy for drivers aged 22-and-under at the start of the year, and also moved him to just 14 points from the overall title.

Securing a podium finish in Race 1 on Saturday at the Hungaroring, followed up with fourth place in Sunday’s race, the Monlau Motorsport driver is now clear ahead in the hotly-contested young drivers’ category, 13 points ahead of his team-mate Marco Butti.

With three pole positions in his career, including one at Paul Ricard this year, the talented CUPRA driver is still chasing his first victory in the championship, a skill he’s mastered in the TCR Spain series where he’s a three-time winner and the current points leader.

“It’s been a great weekend,” said Andersson. “Getting two races with good results was the key, and I’m really happy about that. Our championship rivals had a bit of bad luck and some struggles, so we’ve definitely moved closer to the top. To be second in the overall standings is really good going into the summer break.

“There’s only two rounds left, and both are tracks I know. My team-mate Marco and I are also really well-placed in the standings, so we scored good points for the team this weekend.”
