TCR Europe newcomer Jacopo Cimenes made a strong statement in the final practice session at Misano on Friday evening. The MM Motorsport Honda driver dominated the 30-minute session, posting a leading time of 1:42.224, a full three-tenths quicker than the rest of the field. The Italian set his impressive best time within the first ten minutes CEST in warm conditions and an air temperature of 30 degrees Celsius.
Cimenes led the pack ahead of Ruben Volt's ALM Motorsport Honda. Jenson Brickley, competing at Misano for the first time, climbed to third later in the session, just under four-tenths of a second off the pace, making him the fastest CUPRA driver.
Viktor Andersson's Lynk & Co also showed strong form, with the Swedish driver finishing sixth quickest. He was closely followed by the leading Hyundai of TCR Italy regular Michele Imberti, who spearheaded a group of four Elantras, including Junesung Park, Junui Park, and Max Hart.
The quickest Audi was Teddy Clairet, who secured 11th place, 1.4 seconds off the leading pace. His team-mate and current points leader, Jimmy Clairet, finished 12th.
Several drivers had laps deleted due to track limits violations. Santiago Concepción was a notable example, as his RC2 Racing Team Honda struggled at Turns 8 and 16. He eventually managed to set a valid time late in the session, putting him 17th quickest.
In the Diamond Trophy, the top performer was Sandro Pelatti from PMA Motorsport. After missing much of the first session, he was 18th quickest in the second. It was another challenging session for his team-mate Nicolas Taylor, whose car stopped at Turn 7 halfway through the session, leaving him 15th fastest.
The next session is qualifying, which kicks off at 10:55 AM CEST on Saturday morning.
